Our vacation has come and gone but I think the trip was worth every quarantine day! Of course it’s only day 3, so check back with me at day 12 🙂

We arrived at the airport and took our private shuttle to the hotel. This is where we pulled up to the Casa De Campo Hotel.
It is a LHW – Leading Hotel of the World property and is situated on 7,000 acres with 3 world class golf courses, tennis, horseback riding and 8 restaurants.
Â
Normally this is not my kind of hotel, but different trips for different times. I enjoyed having places to go visit and having many choices of restaurants. My husband, of course, loved the golf courses saying they were some of the best he’s ever played (and he’s played a lot of courses).
Â
Everyone was masked and distanced throughout the resort. First you go to the outside concierge desk. There they take your temperature and you answer questions about covid and how you are feeling.
After that only 1 person per group is allowed into the lobby. There are glass barriers between all employees and guests. Even each pen is cleaned and put on the wooden tray for you to use.
Once checked in you get your room keys and the key to your personal golf cart – every room or villa gets their own golf cart! I have to say this was one of my favorite parts of this resort as we were able to go anywhere – we didn’t have to wait for a shuttle or share with anyone.
Â
Another reason I felt safe to explore the resort.
Everywhere you went – restaurant, beach club, bar, golf course etc they took your temperature. There was either these hand held ones and they asked your name and marked the number on their sheets or there was an ipad one.
Other measures they had in place – once you checked in they gave you a package with wipes and hand sanitizer. Also, there are no towels at the beach. Each room is given two beach towels that are hermetically sealed that you bring with you to the pool or beach. It rained one of the days and I tried to get a towel from someone to wipe of the golf cart seats and I couldn’t find one so they are strict on this. You can get more from housekeeping but its the only way.
We went to the outdoor bar one night and everyone kept to themselves. There were some kids dancing and the whole family wore masks. When we were sitting at the table drinking we did not need masks.
Most of the week the resort was almost empty. By Friday, many Spanish speaking guests, Americans and Canadians started to fill up the hotel and villas. The hotel was being kept at maximum 50% capacity but they have many villas as well.
Â
We took a boat tour on the Friday to Santa Catalina Island which is about 40min away. It was a great day and worth the visit. I’ve included pictures of the pool, beach and me on the boat.
All in all a very needed and successful trip. Any questions at all please call me!
